Freshman Scrimmage

Posted: Thursday, September 04, 2008 at 05:49

Our Freshman team will have their first opportunity to play another team this Saturday, Sept 6th. They will be scrimmaging Ryan at 10 AM behind Archbishop Ryan High School. If you have the chance, come out and cheer on our future varsity players.

New Alignment for Upcoming Season

Beginning in the 2008 season, the league will split into divisions which are aligned with the PIAA classifications.  Instead of two divisions, the Catholic League will now have three.  There will be a AAAA division (largest schools), a AAA division (mid-sized schools) and a AA division (small schools).  Although the PIAA has a "A" classification, no current school in the league is small enough to fit into that category.

AAAA Division AAA Division AA Division
Archbishop Ryan Archbishop Wood Archbishop Carroll
Cardinal O'Hara Conwell-Egan Bishop McDevitt
Father Judge Lansdale Catholic Cardinal Dougherty
LaSalle Neumann-Goretti Kennedy-Kenrick
Monsignor Bonner North Catholic West Catholic
Roman Catholic
St Joseph Prep

Regular Season - The regular season for each team will consist of one game against each of their division opponents, with the AAAA division playing 6 regular season games and the AAA and AA divisions playing 4.  The AAA and AA divisions will play one crossover game against the other division to compensate for the odd number of teams in each division.  The AAAA will either play a non-league game during the regular season or they will have a bye week during the year.

League Playoffs - The top four teams from each division will make the playoffs.  The league playoffs will consist of a two week format, with the 1st place team playing the 4th place team and the 2nd place team playing the 3rd place team in the first week.  The winners of these semi-final contests will meet the following week for the PCL championship game.  Note: There will now be three separate Catholic League Champions.

District Championship - Each of the three championship winners will play the champion from the Public League in their classification.  This game will determine the District Champion (same as the old City Title Game).
