NC Football Alumni Meeting

Posted: Saturday, July 04, 2009 at 10:05

Please join us as we move forward with the NC Football Alumni Association.  To date, we have formed a board of directors, created a non-profit organization and have opened a bank account in the name of the organization.

If you would like to help with this venture, please try to make it to our general membership meeting on Wednesday, July 15, 2009, at 7:00PM.  This meeting will be held at AOH - Division 87 (2171 Wakeling St, Philad, PA 19124).  We need as much help as we can get.

If you can't physically help with this venture, but you'd still like to contribute, please send a donation to "NC Football Alumni" and mail it to 1513 Dyre St, Philadelphia, PA 19124.  Within a couple of weeks, we expect to have a "Donate" button on this page, where you can donate via the secured PayPal site.

Also, join us on August 1, 2009, in Shawcrest (just outside Wildwood, NJ) for the North Catholic Alumni Association's annual Fun in the Sun event, at Lighthouse Point.  We will have football alumni on hand to gather information on former players, accept donations, and we expect to have NC Football Alumni shirts for sale.

If you have any questions, please call Mike Ferris Sr '82, at 215-289-2142.

1974

Name: Jerome DiPentino
Played : 1970 to 1974
Position(s): DB
Number: 41
Best Memory: Looking in awe as a freshman at the 1970 team of Bygott, Haslam, Tabor, Janda, Clarahan and Eddie Emberger, still the best high school running back I have ever seen.  Also, beating Frankford the times we did (I think twice) and watching Chuckie Nicholas run wild for about 250 yards against Pioneers at Franklin Field.   My personal “career” was unremarkable.... Played JV and did a nice job keeping bench warm at Varsity level but would not trade the entire experience for anything.  Played under Billy Travers who taught me much more than X’s and O’s.  Mixed memories of “three a days” at summer camp at Allentown College and having to “run the hill on all fours” for various infractions.
Where is he now: Temple U. 1978   A career real estate broker, owns Premier Properties Real Estate in Longport New Jersey “down the shore”  Also.. coached defensive backs for St. Augustine Prep High School for 3 seasons recently.

Played : 1970 to 1974
Position(s): Equipment Manager / Organizer

Best Memory: Frank was devoted to the North Catholic football program and the school in general. Gave selfishly of his time in the mid 70’s as equipment manager and in other roles.  Made the final cut for the football team but chose to be manager rather than receive little or no playing time. (more useful role)
Frank was one of the early “quest” members to whom learning came easily.  Frank graduated college, raised 4 great children with his wife Lynn and built a successful manufacturing company in PA. and NJ.  Unfortunately Frank Trojan passed away in July of 2006 and is sorely missed.......  RIP Frank......
Note:  Frank's submission was made by classmate and friend, Jerome DiPentino
